Why do you need an alternative lib for TOTP?

This is proven and works just fine! Implemented recently.

If you check the code for this repo ... otplib is not used here. So the alternative word meant "alternative to what is used here not alternative to every package on npm".

As for reason for not suggesting otplib is as follows despite huge download count and time tested situation

• increasing issue count without resolution
• last commit was years ago
• docs page for api is down https://otplib.yeojz.dev/api

Ultimately both are better alternatives to what is used currently ✌🏻
