I would say that we can have UNION afterwards. and make another release.
I'm happy to release often.
That said I'll let Jason comment on this.
@jaltekruse do you want to submit a PR for UNION before we release?

I can get something up in the next few days, I have some other tasks I am looking at as well. If you wanted to do a release first and follow up with a small release with just the Union changes that would be okay for me.

This probably isn't something we should rush, but either way is fine with me. If we want to get union in, I'll plan on making it a priority to get the necessary discussion and design done.

I'm updating this to release 2.3.1. There are no substantial format changes. The only functional change is to add slf4j-nop to get rid of the binder warning, which I think qualifies as an internal bug fix.
