SmartImage multiple issues

(these are probably on my end, but im not sure how to troubleshoot)

1. First issue is on v4.0.4 GUI, I cant use the app anymore. I get this error:
   

2. On the latest GUI version (v4.0.6), the context menu item doesnt open SmartImage. I can open the app normally, but not after trying to open through the context menu.

   It appears in task manager but isnt doing anything:

   

   I can open it again after ending task.

3. Trying to type in the input field on v.4.0.6 causes SmartImage to crash.

Please try the latest release: v4.0.7. Ensure you are using .NET 9. Which Windows version are you using?

alright done that, also im using win10 ltsc. a few things i noticed (still via context menu):

• smartimage doesnt auto search anymore, theres this empty space at the top:

  

  (not sure if thats intended, maybe it could be an option in settings?)

• it seems like my preferences arent remembered properly. e.g., auto search and flaresolverr; auto search enables itself and flaresolverr disables itself. not sure about other settings

I just verified with the latest build and things work as expected. Can you share your configuration file, and the registry values in SOFTWARE\Classes\*\shell\SmartImage? Also, verify you don't have any old SmartImage executables or configuration files lying around.

When launched with the context menu, auto-search is automatically enabled (override).

theres this empty space at the top:

The empty space is the placeholder for new query entries. This is where you can input new queries manually.

wait I might've gotten confused about auto search. what does it do exactly?

the functionality I was referring to with the screenshot was automatically uploading the image and performing the search, which smartimage used to do in older versions.

also I don't like how it opens one of the links in my browser when finished, id definitely like an option to disable that.

I just verified with the latest build and things work as expected. Can you share your configuration file, and the registry values in SOFTWARE\Classes*\shell\SmartImage? Also, verify you don't have any old SmartImage executables or configuration files lying around.

Yes, that is auto-search.

Engines whose results are opened in the browser are referred to as priority engines . Simply select None in the configuration menu.

When it launches via the context menu, auto-search is enabled automatically so it should be doing that.

Can you toggle the context menu option, then share the registry values in SOFTWARE\Classes\*\shell\SmartImage again?

What is the value of the key (Default) inside HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\SmartImage\command?

It should be something like "SmartImage.exe" -i "%1" -auto.

I believe I found the issue. The argument -s is missing, so the registry key arguments should be -i "%1" -auto -s. -s switches to the query automatically.

After I made the necessary changes, everything works as expected.

You can add the change yourself to the registry key or try v4.0.8-alpha with a quickfix.
