Hi everyone,

Dear Support Team,
I am having problems verifying my account to use Microsoft Copilot with my university email.
I have been trying to verify my account by sending all the correct information requested, but the verification process is not completing successfully. My account is already linked to my university email, however I am still unable to access Copilot.
Could you please help me resolve this verification issue so I can use Copilot with my student account?

Hey! I totally get the frustration. It feels like you're stuck in limbo when your email is linked but the actual tool still isn't working.

Verification for the Student Pack and 'provisioning' Copilot are actually two different steps in their system. Usually, even after you're approved, there’s a bit of a lag. Before you stress too much, try these quick fixes:

• Claim it manually: Go to the GitHub Education Offers page, find the Copilot tile, and see if there’s a button that says 'Get access' or 'Claim.' Sometimes the system needs that manual nudge to link it to your account.
• The IDE Refresh: If you're trying to use it in VS Code, sign out of your GitHub account inside the editor and sign back in. That forces the IDE to pull your new student permissions.
• Check your Billing Settings: Go to Settings > Billing and plans. If you see 'GitHub Copilot' listed under your subscriptions with a 'Student' tag, you’re officially in! It might just be a matter of waiting a few hours for the servers to sync.

If it’s been more than 3 days since you got the 'Welcome' email and it still isn't showing up on your Offers page, you'll likely need a manual fix from a human agent. You can ping them at support.github.com under the 'Education' category.

Yup same here I am using my university mail,but if is stuck try some random VPN

The verification status and Copilot provisioning are two separate steps, which is usually where this breaks down.

First, check your application status at education.github.com. If it was rejected, there's a reason shown on that page (document didn't show your name clearly, email domain not recognized as academic, etc.). A lot of people miss this because the rejection notification can get buried.

If you're approved: go to education.github.com/benefits, find the GitHub Copilot tile and click to claim it. Approval doesn't automatically enable Copilot - you have to manually activate that specific benefit. After claiming, sign out of GitHub inside VS Code and sign back in so the extension refreshes your permissions.

If the application is still pending: it usually takes a few days, and the document quality matters a lot. A current enrollment certificate or student ID that shows your name, institution, and enrollment period works better than a screenshot of your university homepage or a generic acceptance letter.
