Enterprise visibility from personal account

If I have a personal GH account only, and want to at least see if a friend has an enterprise account, would I be able to see the account? I'm not asking for access to that account, only whether I could see my friend's GH enterprise account.

No, not from a personal account. GitHub Enterprise membership isn't public.

The only thing you can see from outside is whatever public organization memberships your friend has chosen to display on their profile. Enterprises sit one level above orgs and are not exposed on profiles, in search, or in any public directory. There's no "is this user in an enterprise" indicator anywhere.

Even if you know the enterprise slug and try github.com/enterprises/<slug>, that page is gated to members and admins, so you won't see anything useful as a non-member.

Thanks, to clarify, my friend has an enterprise account at steve-barker-1c, and when I do a GH search from my GH account of steve-barker-1c I see an account that is secure, not public. Could this be his enterprise account where I don't see anything other than his user name? It appears that he named both accounts with the same user name, or, I can see his enterprise account. Can you help clarify?

What you're seeing is just a regular user account with the handle steve-barker-1c, not an enterprise. Enterprises don't show up in user search at all. They live at github.com/enterprises/<slug> and aren't browsable as user handles. The "secure, not public" look just means the profile has no public repos and no public contributions, which is common for accounts that aren't used for open source.

Also worth knowing: GitHub Enterprise Managed User (EMU) accounts always use an underscore before the shortcode, like steve-barker_<shortcode>. Your handle uses hyphens, so it doesn't match the EMU pattern. It's a regular personal account.

If your friend's company runs standard GitHub Enterprise Cloud, his personal account would just be a member of the enterprise's orgs, and you wouldn't see that membership from outside. If the company uses EMU, he has a separate account with an underscore-shortcode in the name. Either way, the enterprise itself is invisible to you.
