The Item Safety section explains the guarantees plainly - one window per vault held until the write lands, an unreadable vault refusing to open rather than overwriting, and lowering the row count keeping the surplus - and the FAQ states the real limits, including that the lock does not cross a shared MySQL database and that vault size is server-wide.
